My story

Born and brought up amongst the middle class values to a teacher father and a homemaker mother in Churu district of Rajasthan, Gaurav has been a studious child since beginning. The academic inclination, which he inherited from his father and the financial status at home made him understand his responsibilities at a very young age and pushed him to aim for IIT. He started preparing for JEE in class XI, cleared the same and joined IIT BHU for a Bachelor's in Mining Engineering in 2012. Later he completed his masters in Sociology.

Being rooted to his core values, but now with a technological and innovative mindset, his family pinned his potential of focusing on the larger goal of  giving back to the society. The constant support and encouragement made Gaurav turn towards pursuing civil services as a career. He started his preparation for RAS and UPSC CSE alongside, as the syllabus for both the exams largely coincide now. The latter half of the journey to be a part of the prestigious Indian Bureaucracy turned back-breaking amidst the covid crises. For almost 2 months, the entire family bore the brunt of the pandemic, was hospitalised and lost a close family member. All this happened just 10-12 days before the final stage of UPSC, the Interview. Gaurav didn’t give up to the circumstances and took the challenge as one of many, he shall be facing as a part of life. Gaurav’s medium has been Hindi, however he chose to write CSE in English, but appeared in CSE Interview in Hindi medium. He believed he could frame his views and present ideas in an organised and fluent manner, and hence went ahead with his strengths.

Blessings were showered upon the family as the compensation for those gruesome 2 months, because the results of the two most coveted examinations of India were announced within a span of 2 months & Gaurav had shined brighter in both. He secured AIR 12 in RAS 2018 (final results announced in 2021) and AIR 13 in UPSC CSE 2020, in his very First Attempts! What an infallible strategy must have been, that had borne fruits not once, but TWICE!

Talking about the strategy of preparation, Gaurav feels that one should be aware of his/her strengths and weaknesses before diving deep into the UPSC CSE preparation. Whether it is selection of optional (his optional was Anthropology) or framing GS, Essay or Ethics strategy, the aspirant should chart out the plan based on personal analysis. He mastered the templates of answer writing, which he created after a thorough self analysis and guidance of teachers and trained his mind to work in a simulated environment. The strategy proved to be a time saver and helped him score 850 Marks in CSE Mains. To help the aspirants in their respective journey, Gaurav has come out with his co-authored published books, where he talks in detail about the strategy and has handwritten answers to showcase how efficiently you also can write using those templates and techniques. How to read in between the lines, how you should divide the answer, what considers a good introduction or conclusion, how you can frame a good introduction or conclusion etc. All these questions are duly answered in the book and aims at providing an inclusive and one stop solution for aspirants, thereby saving their precious and most productive years of youth.
